- Information posted on SMCCCD-authorized Web servers is subject to Federal and State law and District policies, including copyrights, confidentiality, conflict of interest and privacy of information.
- All materials produced by SMCCCD Colleges personnel on official pages of the SMCCCD Colleges’ Web site are protected by copyright.
- Information that references the identity, operations, departments or individuals of the District and/or Colleges, must have appropriate approval from the department or individual referenced.
- The SMCCCD Colleges’ names, seals, watermarks, and other official images are property of the Colleges, and may not be used without permission of the Public Relations & Marketing Offices.
- In order to reinforce a strong and unified visual identity for the College, Web developers for official College pages should follow the Individual College Web Style Guides.
- Copyrighted material may not be used on a SMCCCD College Web page without permission of the copyright owner.
- Persons uploading content and graphics to a SMCCCD page are responsible for ensuring that copyrights are respected. College-owned photographic images anywhere in the public portion of the SMCCCD Web site may be republished with permission from the Office of Public Relations & Marketing Offices, and a photo credit designated by Public Relations & Marketing Offices should accompany republication of the photograph. If Public Relations & Marketing Offices does not know the source of a photograph on the SMCCCD Web site, the Office will request that the photograph simply be credited in republication: "Courtesy ______ College" or "By Permission of ______ College."
- SMCCCD Colleges do not permit Web posting of content that is illegal, that violates license rights or other contractual agreements, or that violates the privacy rights of any individual.
- SMCCCD Colleges reserves the right to reject or remove from any SMCCCD Web server materials that are outdated, erroneous or misleading, illegal, unethical, or detrimental to the mission and operations of the College.
- SMCCCD College students, faculty and staff members are expected to comply with their College Computer Use Policy.
- The SMCCCD College Web sites contain links that allow visitors to access other Web sites that are not controlled by the College. Such links are provided as a convenience, and do not imply endorsement by the College. SMCCCD assumes no responsibility or liability for any material on these links, and expressly disclaims any responsibility for the contents of any linked site.
- SMCCCD reserves the right to refuse to offer a link on an official College Web page, or to remove a link without notice.
- Visitors to the SMCCCD College Web site may not post or transmit information or materials that violate the rights of any third party; that contain known destructive or harmful components; that contain threatening, abusive, or obscene images or language; or that are otherwise illegal.
- The College reserves the right, without notice, to remove material or edit messages received from visitors to the Web site. SMCCCD Colleges expressly disclaims responsibility for materials submitted to the College or posted in chat rooms or bulletin boards, including contents of personal or unofficial Web pages.

- Questions or concerns about SMCCD College Web policies should be directed to the Director of Public Relations at the three colleges.
- Authors of documents and those who store resources on SMCCCD web servers are responsible for what they allow users to access.
- Users shall avoid any action that interferes with the efficient operation of the college network or impedes the flow of information necessary for academic or administrative operations of the College. This includes spamming, access to records and folders not belonging to the individual, data vandalism, use of excessive bandwidth, non-approved commercial enterprise, logon under another’s user ID and password, electronic stalking or any activity deemed illegal under local, state, federal, and international law.
- Use of District computer resources for personal gain, profit, or commercial purposes is prohibited. Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to, the following examples: Consulting for profit; typing services for profit; maintaining commercial business records; developing software for sale, except as permitted in Board Policy pertaining to intellectual property rights; any activity, which is not District business, or a professional activity related to the employee's job function.
- Off campus, instructionally-based Web sites will be required to comply with the principles and standards as stated herein. Instructional Web Developers will be encouraged to migrate their Web sites to a SMCCCD-authorized Web server.
